Body shaming more so on women has been on the rise, and has been a major topic of concern and discussion for a very long time. With many people missing out on job opportunities due to having certain body sizes that are not acceptable in that particular company, they end up starving themselves and going other extra miles just to get that ‘perfect’ body.

During an interview with Nairobi News, The sassy media personality and top news anchor at NTV, Olive Burrows, revealed that she has been through that path before. Years back when she was still starting out trying to get a job and get her life together, she got rejected for a job at a top media house because of being fat.

Olive’s job hunt at Capital FM was not an easy one. A media house owned by Chris Kirubi who gave her negative comments about her body not being fit for the job. When she went to meet up with the rich tycoon, he told her off on her face that he does not like hiring fat people. His negative comment was a very ugly turn down.

Two years later, the popular news anchor received a call from Capital FM’s Editorial Director Michael Mumo who is also Kirubi’s Personal Assistant offering her a job opportunity. It happens that the PA was still holding on to Olive’s CV and when an opportunity came by, she was the first person he had in mind for the job.
Kirubi’s PA was looking for someone to blog for him, and that was how Olive landed a job at Capital FM where she worked for 6 years. This opened doors for more opportunities for her.

She even got an opportunity to interview the former US President Barrack Obama when he recently visited Kenya before landing a lucrative job at NTV where she’s still working to-date.
