I have been a fan of Burt's Bees lip balms and lip products, so I have been really intrigued to try Burt's Bees makeup ever since the line was released!
Burt's Bees beauty is all about natural, non-synthetic products and being unique to your own type of beauty! The makeup line is made using the the best, natural ingredients and are formulated without parabens, phthalates, sls, talc or synthetic fragrances. The beauty line is described as "a full line of natural cosmetics that work because of how they’re made, not in spite of it."
Burt's Bees Mattifying Powder Foundation in "Vanilla" ~ $17.99 CAN. Shine from within, not on your skin. Our 100% Natural Mattifying Powder Foundation in Bamboo controls shine with buildable and blendable coverage to give you a smooth and even skin tone. Lightweight and non-comedogenic, our Mattifying Powder Foundation is perfect for oily or combination skin, effectively absorbing oil without drying out your skin. Made with Bamboo to blur imperfections, this mineral makeup blends easily to even out your skin.
This has a really smooth formula. I cannot actually say the last time I used an actual powder foundation - for years, I had really dry skin so it was never a formula I have gravitated towards. Honestly, my skin has changed so much through my recent pregnancy and post baby hormone changes that I'm more combination with dry patches and an oily t-zone.
I really wanted to try this out more as a finishing powder as that's how I see myself using a powder foundation - just as a final touch over my liquid base. I used it with a damp beauty blender to lightly set the under eye and chin and then with a fluffy brush all over the face and I really liked it as a finishing power. It was a light enough formula that it didn't look heavy on the face. I did think by the end of 10 hours, my face was looking a little powdery; but, that was on my home from a full day of work!
Burt's Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation in "Buff" ~ $19.99 CAN. Glowing skin is always in. Burt's Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation is a full-coverage, mineral makeup that leaves skin smoother and more radiant with a natural finish that's never heavy, cakey or greasy. This 98.9% natural moisturizing foundation instantly hydrates and nourishes skin and stays on all day. Made with responsibly sourced Meadowfoam Seed Oil, known for its moisturizing benefits, it gives you naturally beautiful results both inside and out. Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation is perfect for dry or combination skin.
This foundation provides a surprisingly good full coverage finish - I haven't dipped too much in to the mineral/natural foundation so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I did like the finish and didn't find it overally glowy - I would call it a more natural finish. It does have a bit of a weird smell upon application; but, it doesn't linger on the skin at all.
I did wear this all day for work - 10 hours and it looked pretty good for the whole day - towards the end of the day I did find it clinging to my dry patches a little and breaking up slightly on my nose, but I thought it wore really well. The colour Buff is actually quite light for me - I should have gone a shade darker. (Also, this range only has 12 colours so it certainly could use some improvement in the shade selection department!)
Here are both the Mattifying Powder Foundation and Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation swatched on my arm. I love the detail of the packaging and like that there is a pump on the foundation!
And, here is the Burt's Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation in Buff - ignore the fact that this is too light on me and just see the coverage (hello, all my little red marks are gone and the finish is nice!)
Burt's Bees Glossy Lipstick in "Peony Dew" ~ $9.99 CAN. Our Glossy Lipstick gives you full coverage, glossy lip colour you'll love, with natural, moisturizing ingredients that love your lips in return. These long-wearing lipsticks make lips super lustrous and keep them hydrated. Nourishing Red Raspberry Oil, Moringa Oil and Mimosa flower wax moisturize, leaving lips smooth and beautifully soft.
I really like this lipstick; but, I wouldn't call this a full coverage lipstick by any means - maybe it is just the shade Peony Dew that I tried. The formula is hydrating and glossy and it is slightly shimmery making it really pretty! It's not a long wearing formula; but, it does wear off well and it's comfortable to wear!
Burt's Bees Blush in "Shy Pink" ~ $14.99 CAN. Glow beautifully and naturally, wherever you go. Our Blush applies and blends easily and evenly. This 100% natural, lightweight mineral makeup features Bamboo, Honey and Vitamin E to nourish skin and enhance your cheeks’ natural glow for beautiful results, inside and out. Choose from three luminous shades that complement a variety of skin tones, from fair to dark.
This blush is really pretty! It is slightly powdery - I can be a little heavy handed with my blush so I dipped in to this pretty heavy and got a fair bit of powder kick up. But, I think it's just the more natural formula. Go in light handed or tap off the excess! I thought this applied super smoothly and was a really pretty colour! Also, the shade stayed really pretty all day long!
Here is the Glossy Lipstick in Peony Dew and Blush in Shy Pink swatched on me - both are beautiful shades!
And, here is the Burt's Bees Glossy Lipstick in Peony Glow on my lips!
Burt's Bees Eyeshadow in "Shimmering Nudes" ~ $14.99 CAN. It's time to go natural, without a shadow of a doubt. Our Eye Shadow Trios are a 100% natural formula that's both easy-to-blend and long-lasting, resisting creasing, fading and smudging for all-day wear. Made with Bamboo, Honey and Vitamin E, this mineral eye makeup nourishes skin and enhances your natural glow for beautiful results inside and out.
This eyeshadow trio is pretty neutral and I will be totally honest here and say that it was probably my least favorite item in this whole makeup line. I just found the 2 brown shades to be very similar and on the eyes they appear quite similar as well.
The formula did wear well on the eyes and was pigmented for my whole work day - I did think I managed to get a pretty eye look out of the trio, I just wish there was a little more variation in the 2 shadows. The formula was okay - it didn't mix well with me trying to apply with my finger tips or with a spray and that may just be because of the more natural formula.
Here is the Shimmering Nudes Eyeshadow trio swatched on me - there is certainly some slight differences in the 2 browns, but on my eyes they do come out very similar. I couldn't use one as a transition shade and one as a lid shade and have them appear different.
Burt's Bees Brow Pencil in "Brunette" ~ $12.99 CAN. Get naturally beautiful brows that wow. Our Brow Pencil easily fills, defines and shapes brows to ensure you look your natural best. Made with Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter, our formula is 99.9% natural, long-lasting and gentle enough for the delicate eye area. First, fill in sparse, light or over-plucked brows.
This brown pencil comes with a spoolie on the end - its actually a nice dense spoolie and I really like it. The brow pencil comes in either Blonde or Brunette and it would be nice to see a couple more shades in this as well. This is a nice formula - it's creamy and a little softer than I'm used to, but it went on smoothly and looked natural.
Burt's Bees Nourishing Eyeliner in "Soft Black" ~ $12.99 CAN. Our Nourishing Eyeliner is easy to apply and resists smudging and fading for long-lasting wear. 99.9% natural and specifically formulated for your delicate eye area, it's made with Jojoba, Mango and responsibly sourced Meadowfoam Seed Oils to help nourish your skin. The unique cedar wood pencil is also responsibly sourced.
I'm not normally a pencil eyeliner person, I've said that on here before - I tend to line with a black liquid liner as I like the impact of it a little more than a pencil. But, I did actually like the formula of this pencil. It was a creamy formula that wasn't too soft - it applied nicely to the top of my lid which is always a good test for pencil liners - it didn't tug or pull and glided on nicely without smudging.
Here is the brow pencil in Brunette and the eyeliner in Soft Black swatched on me - I like a really black liner and thought this applied darker on the lids than it swatched, which Iiked.
Burt's Bees Nourishing Mascara in "Classic Black" ~ $13.99 CAN. Our 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara lengthens and defines lashes. The brush and formula work together to give you longer, healthy looking lashes instantly. Made with Jojoba Oil and naturally moisturizing Glycerin to nourish lashes, this 100% natural mascara is gentle enough for your delicate eye area.
I'm not sure if I have ever used an all natural mascara or not; but, I actually really liked this formula! This adds length and definition without clumping lashes at all! It did flake or smudge - it wasn't too wet or too dry of a formula and it looked really nice on the lashes!
Here is a look at the wand on the mascara - the only think that threw me off was the brown packaging for the classic black formula!
Here is a look at the before and after with the mascara - the after picture is 3 coats of mascara. I also have the brow pencil on, the pencil eyeliner on the lid as well and the eyeshadow trio on too!
Here is a look at the full face of Burts Bees makeup! I have the liquid foundation on, the powder foundation as a finishing powder, the blush in shy pink on my cheeks, the glossy lipstick in Peony Dew on the lips, and the eyes have the eyeshadow, pencil liner, and mascara on. Plus, the brow pencil on as well!
Overall, I was impressed with the Burt's Bees makeup line - I really liked the foundation, powder, lipstick, mascara, blush and brow pencil. The eyeliner was good as well, and the eyeshadow wasn't my favorite formula. But, overall these products wore really well on the face and created a nice look!
