Happy Manicure Tuesday everyone - I'm a day late here, but I hope you all had a good weekend! I mentioned in yesterday's Shop My Stash makeup post, that Cheekbone Beauty shared a little origin story of the heart berry and it was beautiful - and this gorgeous seed card came in my order this month and the heart berry is the inspiration for my mani this week!
The OPI polish was received as a PR sample
The #CBBxManiMonday group is switching it up a little bit this month and the theme is Allyship - June is both Pride Month and Indigenous History Month. Each week we will be sharing manis based on our allyship with these causes and sharing resources to help draw attention to, informative information or agencies in our areas that are assisting people.
I'm also taking my allyship one step farther this month, and each week along with my information and mani, I'm going to be donating $100 to a different organization each week. While I think education and information are fantastic, I also want action and support to come through!
The products I used for this week's mani are:
- Essie Expressie polish in In The Time Zone
- China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Seas the Day
- OPI polish in Envy the Adventure
I also used a nail dotting tool for this mani!
The Stardale Women's Group is a Calgary based organization that focuses on empowering the lives of Indigenous girls, strengthening their families, and inspiring communities to engage in the core values of reconciliation. The offering programs and services to Indigenous young women and girls to assist in overcoming systemic barriers - when positive, supportive environments are provided for Indigenous young women and girls, resilience is built across generations. The goal is for all of the Indigenous young women and girls we serve to live in a strong, supportive and inclusive community where all Indigenous People have assets to thrive and are equal participants in Calgary’s future.
Stardale is also sharing that their girls helped write and star in the short film "The Road" - it is a film that explores various themes pertaining to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and the legacy and inter-generational impact of colonialism in Canada. I will certainly be paying to rent this film this weekend and watch it this weekend - when exploring the issue of MMIWG in Canada, it is incredibly surprising and heart-breaking the rates of violence/abuse/murder that Indigenous women face in Canada and we need to do our best as a society to address these issues and fix and protect Indigenous women.
For this manicure, I started out with a base coat and two coats of light pink polish as the base. Then, using the nail dotting tool I created the shape of a heart with the dark pink/red polish and then, using the green polish I created little stems. Then, I finished with a nail dotting.
As always, make sure to check out Cosmetic Proof and Prairie Beauty Love to see their allyship nails too!
