Did Yankees’ Aroldis Chapman soil his pants on mound? ‘Mother Nature calls sometimes!' - NJ.com Posted: 13 Sep 2020 09:18 AM PDT Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman probably is being teased by teammates that he should start wearing a diaper. We don't know what happened for sure, but Chapman might have gone No. 2 while pitching the ninth inning of Saturday's 2-1, 10-inning win over the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium. Introducing Yankees Insider: Get exclusive news, behind-the-scenes observations and the ability to text message directly with beat writers The way Chapman was moving around on the mound at the start of the inning, something didn't seem right, so Aaron Boone and trainer Tim Lentch heading to the mound after leadoff hitter Renato Nunez flioed out to right field. "I was just checking on him," Boone said. When Boone was asked what he found out, he started laughing. "He's fine," Boone said. "We'll leave it at that." Pressed for more information, Boone added, "He's fine. He's fine. Mother Nature calls sometimes!" Chapman wound up striking out the next two batters after Boone's visit to keep the game tied 1-1 – perhaps with dirty pants – then the Cuban lefty sprinted off the field and presumably to a clubhouse restroom. All's well that ends up though, because the Yanks won in 10 on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Luke Voit, and Chapman played a role in the victory with an appearance that he'll probably be getting razzed about for the rest of his life.
