On The Next Two Years

OK, the elections are over, and the Dems got their butts handed to them seriously.

Candidates who opposed gun rights got bounced.

Climate change whack jobs got trounced.

Sandra Fluke, the woman revered by liberals for demanding that taxpayers pay for her recreational birth control got trounced in a liberal California State Senate district.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker survived another Union-organized attempt to oust him after pushing Right-to-Work legislation through in Wisconsin. Likewise, Michigan's Governor Rick Snyder won re-election after signing similar legislation in Michigan. These races prove that while union leadership may be mad, the average state voter who is not a union member (and quite a few who are) wants the right to choose whether or not to support a union with their wages.

Across America, Republicans picked up almost every open seat in competitive districts while holding every one that they were trying to keep. The new Republican majorities in both House and Senate chambers are among the largest in history, and in this, I credit Barry Obama for narcissistically announcing that the Dem candidates running for election or re-election are people who have supported his agenda. Those people almost universally lost.

America spoke yesterday, and it rejected Obama's agenda. It also sent a message to the GOP to the effect that you guys have a mandate to stop Obama and his agenda, not to work with him or help him get more of it passed. That means that you cut taxes on businesses and individuals, replace Obamacare with plans that people acually want, leave our guns alone, and secure our borders, to include removing the foreign nationals that are already here illegally, competing with Americans for jobs.

Sadly, we now have Mitch McConnell and John Boehner leading the Senate and the House respectively, and both are milquetoaste compromisers with a track record of letting Obama bully them into going along with him. The GOP needs to ditch both of these guys for the next session and replace them with fresh blood and fresh visions in the form of younger conservatives who are more in tune with what America wants. We don't want any more of what we've been getting, that much is clear. Obama has been the biggest problem over the last six years, but the GOP leadership has been right up there with him and if we're going to turn America around, and if the GOP wants to hold onto their gains, McConnell and Boehner have got to follow Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi into obscurity. The GOP has a chance here, one that they're not likely to ever get again. The ball is in their court now and keeping the current failed party leadership in place would be a clear and unmistakeable signal to America that they either still don't get it or that they just don't care.
